Apple Cheeks

Aren't 20 month old's just the cutest things ever?! A grandson provides a window into a world that we mothers quickly forget once our babies are off into the world. Every moment is precious, hilarious, completely lovely and sometimes heartbreaking. But mostly full of utter joy! Remembering my babies turning into toddlers and moving on to grade school, high school and college makes my head swim. Where did it all go? You think you will never forget the delight of simply watching your child with his first armful of apples on a beautiful fall day. And in the midst of work and running here and there and scrambling to meet all the tasks that come with raising children and keeping a roof over their heads we forget those blissful moments. My wish to you is to simply take a minute or two and watch a little human explore his or her first fall days. Precious!

Oh, my! This is just about the cutest thing I've seen. I love it! It reminds me of a picture a local newspaper photographer caught of my Faith picking out a pumpkin. She was about 18 months old. She had a pacifier in her mouth, her stuffed "froggy" and was attempting to pick up a big pumpkin. The striking thing was her hair and the pumpkin were the same color.

Beautiful child!! I love how hard those little fingers are working to keep it all together. Such concentration. Your words make me take pause.

such an amazing photograph! i LOVE the fall colors! :) My youngest is 23 months - lovely age. though, a busy age too. she's into everything -VERY curious :)

Thank you SO MUCH for leaving such a powerful story in the comments section of my blog post about the invisible disabilities. I just want to blow that story up on a billboard and make everyone read it! I was excited to learn you and your daughter are writing a book. What an amazing book that will be! I also love the elevator analogy.
I have a doctorate degree in clinical psychology, though ive been a SAHM for 5 years now and not practicing. Bipolar Disorder, along with schizophrenia, are 2 of the most debilitating, difficult conditions the human mind and soul can face. My heart goes out to your daughter's strength and to YOU as her mother. What a difficult experience... i know better than the avg. person how horrid this disorder can be - particularly the depression piece. My uncle was also bipolar. it was a mess. After he beat up his wife (my aunt) he left her and his 2 children and they havent had much of a relationship w/ him since. He just couldnt stay on his meds. He didnt have any support system... you really NEED that... ya know?
Anyway, im excited to discover your blog... off to reading more of your posts :)

This is a gorgeous photo! Childhood is indeed fleeting and so precious! I am holding on to my youngest daughters' girlhood as long as possible. My oldest goes to college in less than two years and I am already in distress! So much I still want to do with her...and not enough time....

Cinda, when I saw this last week, I made a note of it for my weekly "Sweet Pickle Award." You can come "pick it up" at my blog today. And hopefully you'll get new traffic to your site.
